Access 2007 Filter Subform Using Combo Box As Parameter

Hi All, I have tried several ways and I just can't get it to work. I have read several suggestions online and in this forum, but have not found anything like my case. I will try to explain. I have a main form with subforms in a tab control. The main form contains building information. This information is entered in another form that captures the bldg and project info only.

Sometimes in a form-based parameter query it would be nice to limit the values. So you can filter the second combo box based on the selected item in the first? When you place two combo boxes on a form, Access by default doesn't link. Drag the subform from the Access Forms object list in the database window. Mar 02, 2015  I'm using access 2010. The main form is displaying a combo box filled with a list of firms. The subform is intended to display a list of report cards for the individual firms.

The bldg information on this main form comes from that table and it is not updated or selected here. It only shows what building the user will be capturing material information for. So the building name control is a text box. I have a combo box in a subform that's datasource is a query that lists all the rooms found in another subform in another tab. I want the cbox to list only the rooms associated with the building on the main form. I think this is where I am having a problem getting it to work.

Since the building name is not a cbox I cannot have a combo box filtered depending on the selection of another cbox. So how do I do this? How does one filter a cbox depending on the information on a text box?

I tried putting code on the on focus of the text box and it did not work. Can someone point me in the right direction? Can this be done? All the tabs and subforms are linked to the main form by the building name. Thanks in advance! I know they can, just can't get mine to work. Would you put your event (macro) on the ON ENTER? Since the building name control is not touched (meaning updated) it only displays what building name record you are currently on. I read over and tried the ACC2000:Base Combo Box on Parameter Query to Filter Values () and I get a message that 'the ROOM_ID (combo box) is not a field in the current record' when I know that it is. I thought I was getting this error because of the different levels of subforms and tab controls.

I was tasked with creating a simple app to maintain a user's collectibles collection using Access 2007. There were some requests, which I have created and implemented. Those being: • One main form listing all of his collectibles • That same main form has a tabbed control below, with each tab containing a subform that in effect 'filters' data based on different criteria from the main form. For example, the 1st subform takes the name of the collectible figure in the main form, and displays all other records using that name in the subform. In other words, if the figure is 'Darth Vader', the subform would list all collectibles that have the name 'Darth Vader'.

I have created the application as per user request, but there is one thing that is bothering both of us so far. The subform's first record is the same as the main form. We both find that redundant, and annoying. Granted, my Access skills is weak at best, so this may be a simple fix, but is there a way to remove the duplicate record in the subform?

I have tried implementing a where clause in the subform stating to not include the 'Figure ID' in the main form. Problem is, it is acting like a Parameter prompt, asking for the main form's FigureID when I open the subform, or the main form. If I type in the Figure ID, it works, but the prompt is something that is obviously not wanted. FYI: • The main form is based on a query that basically selects all records from the 'Figures' table and other related tables • The subform was created when I dropped the subform control onto the tab control, where I linked the necessary master and child fields. Say you have a form named frmMain.
